Learn: the key idea

Ratio language is built on a small number of dependable facts. Represent, simplify and divide in a given ratio. Represent the information first, choose a method deliberately, show each step and use an inverse operation or estimate to check that the result fits the question.

A bag has 3 red and 5 blue counters. What is red : blue?

  1. 1Identify the mathematical information and what must be found.
