Sequences
Lesson 8 of 13
Term-to-term rules
Objective. Describe and continue a sequence using its term-to-term rule.
The key idea
A term-to-term rule says how to get from one term to the next. It needs a starting value to define the sequence completely.
Worked example
Continue 5, 8, 11, 14, …
- 1Differences: 3 each time.
- 214 + 3 = 17, then 20.
Answer: 17, 20
