More, fewer and the same
Objective. Compare two small groups and say which has more.
The key idea
Match objects one to one. Whichever group has some left over has more; if nothing is left over the groups are the same.
Worked example
5 apples and 3 pears. Which group has more?
- 1Pair each pear with an apple: 3 pairs.
- 22 apples are left over.
Answer: The apples — 2 more
